Observation

           

This questions required the ability of the candidates to recall definition of concepts in airconditioning and refrigeration and different types of workshop safety gadgets. All the candidates attempted this question and their performance was very good.    

 

  1. Definition of accident as applied in airconditioningand  refrigeration workshop
    • An accident is defined as an unplanned event that interrupts the completion of anactivity, it is invariably preceded by an unsafe act or an unsafe condition.
    • An accident is an unforeseen event in the airconditioning and refrigeration workshop that results in an injury or a casualty to an employee.
    • It is an unplanned event that results in personal injury or property damage in an airconditioning and refrigeration workshop.
    • It is a discrete occurrence in the course of work in airconditioning and refrigeration workshop leading to physical or mental occupational injury.
    • It is an unplanned event or incident that leads to the injury of an airconditioning and refrigeration employee or damage to a company’s property.
  2. Merits of mercury as a thermometric liquid
    1. Mercury does not wet glass or stick to glass.
    2. Mercury responds quickly to a slight change in temperature.
    3. Mercury does not vaporize easily.
    4. Mercury is opaque, hence it can be easily seen in the glass.
