The diagrams below illustrate some farm tools. Study them and answer the questions that follow.

(a)        Identify each of the farm tools labelled A, B and C.                                             (3 marks)
(b)       State two uses each of the farm tools labelled A, B and C.                                   (6 marks)
(c)        Name the parts labelled I and II in diagram C.                                                      (2 marks)
(d)       Give four general ways of maintaining the farm tools labelled A and C.             (4 marks)

Observation

 

Question 2 was the most popular among candidates. Majority of them were able to identify the farm tools, state their uses and maintenance practices. However, some candidates could not differentiate between a spade and a shovel.

  • Wash and dry after use/clean after use
  • Replace worn-out parts
  • Sharpen metal blades
  • Straighten bent metal blades
  • Store in a cool, dry place
  • Keep wooden handles away from termites
  • Rub the metal parts with oil/grease to avoid rusting
