Observation
This question was very popular to the candidates and many of them attempted it and were able to get good marks. They adequately defined tourism and gave reasons for travel in tourism. The benefits of tourism were also adequately highlighted by them. However, a few of them still missed some aspects of the question and were unable to score good marks. Specifically, the candidates who got excellent mark in this question were able to mention the following points in A, B and C:
(a) Tourism means the temporary movement of people outside where they live and work for not less than 24 hours and not more than 1 consecutive year for recreation, leisure and business purposes.
(b) For holidays, for business/shopping activities, to attend conferences/meetings.
(c) (i) Improved balance of trade/payment;
(ii) Foreign exchange earnings by government;
(iii) Promotion of cultural interaction.
