Candidates were expected to make the test piece shown in Fig. 1.

Candidates were able to produce the piece, however the following were observed:

1. Some candidates did not do a good job of planing.
2. Some candidates did not mark out their stocks properly.
3. Some candidates did a bad grooving job.
4. Some candidates did a poor rebating work.
5. The assembling of some candidates’ jobs were poor because the did a poor job on the joints.

 

The candidates were scored on the following processes:

2. Marking out (4)
3. Grooving (2)
4. Rebating (2)
5. Assembling (3)
6. Accuracy
