(i)    State two possible causes of this problem;
(ii)  Give two solutions to this problem.

 

(b) List in sequential order, the steps involved in servicing a mobile phone.

The Candidates that did this question performed poorly as they were not able to provide reasonable answers to the questions asked.

  • Wrong network configuration settings
  • Missing / no network configuration settings                  

                       

  • Solutions to the identified causes of the error in 5(a)(i)
  • Send appropriate code to service provider to get correct network configuration settings
  • Manually input the correct network configuration settings
  • Contact service provider to request for network configuration settings

   

    (b)     Steps involved in servicing a mobile phone

  • Turn / power OFF the phone
  • Remove SIM card, memory card and battery (if any)
  • Uncouple the phone using appropriate tools/equipment
  • Remove delicate detachable components on the PCB
  • Use ESD soft brush and recommend thinner (isopropyl alcohol) to clean the PCB
  • Turn / power ON the rework station/hot air blower and set it to the appropriate temperature range (low heat and low air) for complete dryness of the PCB
  • Allow the PCB to cool and couple the phone appropriately
  • Turn / power ON the phone to test for functionality
