Most of the candidates attempted this question and their performance was okay.

Candidates were expected to state the function of the bridge guard on the jointing machine.

• To protect the hand from coming in contact with the blade when planning.
• To prevent the wood piece being planned from kickback.
• It protects a loose cutter head from flying out.
