(a)      Describe the following documents, stating two uses of each:

(i)      Consular invoice;

(ii)      Proforma invoice

 

(b)      List four computer input and four computer output devices.



Observation

Most candidates who attempted could not relate consular invoice with foreign trade. They explained proformar invoice just like a normal invoice.

The expected responses to the question include:

      

(a)        

  1.    Consular invoice: It is an international trade document issued by the consul office of the importing country to ascertain the correctness of the price of the goods.                
    Uses of consular invoice
  1. It is used as evidence of sale of goods.
  2. It shows the actual price of the goods in the country of origin.
  3. It is used to determine duties to be paid on the imported goods.

                                                                  

  1.   Proforma invoice: It is an invoice used to request payment from a buyer before the goods are supplied.                                                                           
    Uses of proforma invoice
  1. It is used as a polite way of refusing credit.
  2. It is used when a trader is dealing with the customer for the first time.
  3. It is used as a quotation to indicate selling terms.
  4. It is used when goods are sent on sale or return basis.
