(a) List five negative effects of women and child trafficking in the Nigerian society.   

                       

(b) Highlight five reasons Nigeria collaborates with other countries to fight against  trafficking in persons.                                                     

Observation

 

This question attracted lots of candidates and the performance of most candidates who answered it was good as they understood what was required of the question. The defect to most of candidates who missed out in scoring the maximum marks obtainable is mostly attributed to lack of proper interpretation of the questions. To those candidates who deviated, expected answers include

 

(a)        Negative effects of women and child trafficking on the Nigerian society

  1. Violation of fundamental human rights
  2.  Stigmatization of the family of the victims
  3.  Untimely/premature death
  4.  Risk of contracting venereal diseases e.g. HIV/AIDs, STD, etc
  5.  Hardship/poverty
  6.  Unwanted pregnancy
  7. Drug abuse/addiction
  8. Physical/emotional disorder/psychological trauma
  9.  Bad image for the country

 

(b)  Reasons Nigeria collaborates with other countries to fight against trafficking in persons

  1. To save Nigeria’s pride and image in the international community
  2. To safeguard human rights abuse
  3. To curb the rising incidence of human trafficking
  4. To step up the response to human trafficking through joint programmes
  5. To prevent pre-mature death of victims
  6. To carry out effective anti-trafficking strategies and generate more support for victims of trafficking
  7. To reduce the risk of contracting venereal disease in society
  8. To promote greater international cooperation, coordination, effectiveness and efficiency in the common fight against trafficking in persons
