Observation

Most candidates were able to state safety precaution to be observed when using a ladder. However few of them failed to state the use of hand gloves and dust mask.
The expected response to question 1 is as given below;

• Safety precautions to be observed when using a ladder:
• set the ladder at the correct angle;
• ladder step must be in horizontal position;
• check the ladder for any defect;
• ensure good grip of the ladder on the ground.

• One use of each of the following:

i.    hand gloves -    
is used to protect hands from injury;
protect hands from dirt.
ii.    dust mask –
it is used to prevent inhaling dust particles;
used to protect the nose from minor injuries;
prevent inhalation of chemical vapour.
