CANDIDATES' WEAKNESSES AND SUGGESTED REMEDIES

The observed weaknesses of the candidates this year include:

• starting taxonomical names with small letter;
• illegible handwriting;
• poor spelling of one-word and technical terms;
• inability to state structure and function for adaptation questions;
• inability to state the sex of the organism with reasons;
• inability to state the aim of the experiment in question 2;
• inability to complete the table on the experiment;
• inability to spell the biotic and abiotic components in the illustrated habitat.

The following remedies were proffered to overcome the weaknesses

Candidates should:

• cover the syllabus before sitting the examinations;
• take the examination only after the completion of the senior secondary school;
• attend coaching lessons to learn more;
• study past questions and Chief Examiner’s Report;
• improve on their spelling of technical terms;
• study often and prepare ahead of examinations;
• read textbooks that have enough description of topics rather than Biology key points;
• study questions properly before answering them.
