The expected answers were;

(a)        The main purpose of testing an installation

• It is done to detect faults before dangerous situations arise.                                    

(b)        The sequential order of tests to be carried out on a new installation

• Polarity test;
• Insulation resistance test;
• Earthing test;
• Continuity test.

Many of the candidates who attempted this question did fairly well in the first part but could not list the sequential order of testing on a new electrical installation.
