CANDIDATES’ WEAKNESSES AND SUGGESTED REMEDIES      

       Majority of the candidates were unable to:

• mention the ways government can prevent farmers from selling their produce at farm gate prices;

• name the implements used for various farm operations;
• outline problems associated with the use of farm machinery;
• give reasons why irrigation is necessary in West Africa;
• state the differences between surface irrigation and use of sprinklers;
• explain terms in forest management;
• state the advantages of artificial incubation of eggs;
• prepare the profit and loss account for Goodwill Farms;
• spell technical terms correctly;
• write legibly;

   Based on the observed weaknesses the Chief Examiners recommended as follows:

• Adequate coverage of the syllabus.
• The acquisition of practical skills in the subject through field visits, excursion;
• Exposure of candidates to technical terms used in Agriculture;
• Candidates should write legibly and concisely.
