Some of the weaknesses observed in the candidates’ scripts were:
Wrong placement of shorthand outlines which made it hard for them to transcribe what they jotted down.
Poor spellings and wrong use of words
Writing of dictated passages in longhand instead of shorthand.
4. SUGGESTED REMEDIES
Theory of shorthand should be taught and learnt so as to improve on the placement of outlines.
Candidates should focus more on drilling, with the use of short forms, phrases and contractions in shorthand so as to improve their speed.
Candidates should also improve on their spelling and usage of English language so as to avoid many grammatical errors.
