Materials required
- Straw board/Plywood.
- Water thinned (emulsion) paint (cream3040).
- Gloss paint:
- red;
- navy blue;
- national green.
- Thinner (Turpentine).
- Soft foam.
- Masking tape.
- Cardboard.
Observation
Preparation
The candidate is responsible for preparing the working surface before the day of the examination. The candidate is also responsible for the provision of the materials required for carrying out the examination to specifications.
Working surface
A straw board/Plywood (5mm thick) measuring 50cm x 75cm to be coated with the recommended water thinned (emulsion) paint (cream 3040) before the day of the examination.
Examination
- The examination consists of construction of the shapes and the words “BASIC SHAPES”.
- Reproduce the design and lettering, which should be in Gill Sans (block) in the given dimension.
- Cut into stencils, the design and dab with the specified colours.
- Construct the lettering on the working surface and signwrite with the specified colour.
- The dimensions and colour indications are to guide the candidates and should not be replicated on the final work.
