(b) In what two ways is baptism relevant to Christians?
Observation
This was a popular question and many candidates were attracted to this question and they performed better in the A part than in the B part. In Part A, Majority of the candidates pointed out the required points. However, the B part was more of a challenge to many candidates in that they failed to mention the relevance of baptism to Christians. The following are some of the points that candidates were expected to have mentioned in the Part B;
- It marks membership to the Christian community/Identification with Christ and all Christians.
- It is a response to God’s command.
- It is a symbol of the death and resurrection with Christ.
- It is a sign of repentance and forgiveness.
- It marks a new beginning/creation/new life.
- It marks the physical and ritual cleansing of Christians.
