Candidates performed below standard. The weaknesses noticed in candidates’ scripts included:
(l) poor spellings and grammatical expressions;
(2) shallow knowledge of the subject;
(3) misinterpretation of questions;
(4) illegible handwriting; and
(5) violation of rubrics
The suggested remedies for overcoming candidates’ weaknesses include:
(1) Encouraging the candidates to improve on their power of expression.
(2) candidates should get familiar with the demands of the syllabus, visit the museums and use the library for assistance;
(3) candidates should always read carefully and understand the instructions in question papers before attempting them.
(4) Teachers should be strict with students concerning handwriting; It must be: legible.
