Candidates were required in (a) to list any three great merits and (b) discuss the art of the High Renaissance. Many candidates attempt this question and some of the candidates performed satisfactorily well while some were out of context.
Some of them mentioned Nigeria contemporary artists while some mentioned cubists and impressionist artists.
(a) The great masters of the Renaissance include:
(i) Leonardo da vinci;
(H) Michelangelo Bounarroti;
(iii) Raphael Sanzio;
(iv) Titian Corregio;
(v) Andrea del Sarto; ,
(b) Renaissance means rebirth, renovation, revival of classical Roman and Greek Art.
- It was that period that followed Gothic, Art Movement between the 14th to 16th century.
- High Renaissance: period flourished in Florence, Italy, etc.
- High Renaissance also closely followed the Proto Renaissance period.
- It was a period of great achievement in Art: Great masters emerged.
- High Renaissance flourished most between late 15th Century and early 16th century.
