The Candidates' poor performance was a reflection of their weaknesses, which can be summarized as follows:
(a) Poor knowledge of geometrical construction;
(b) Poor pencil or line work;
(c) Poor knowledge Of drawing conventions and symbols
(d) Lack of regular visit to workshops to familiarize with the tools and instruments;
(e) Poor application of scales and dimensions
(t) Incorrect sectioning or lack of the skill required for sectioning;
(g) Improper use of instruments.
Some of the candidates also showed preference for certain parts of the syllabus to the detriment of the others; thereby limiting the scope of the questions they could attempt.
As remedies for the aforementioned weaknesses candidates are advised to:
(a) Procure standard books on Technical Drawing;
(b) Do regular practice before their examination;
(c) Visit workshops and building sites;
(d) Use suitable drawing instrument for each operation.
The authority should also consider making credit in Technical Drawing a part of requirement for admission into engineering related causes in higher institutions.
