This question on wave particle duality of matter was popular among the candidates. The response was also good. Most candidates also correctly answered the b part but most failed to mention balck body radiation and absorption/emission spective as examples of phenomena that can be explained in terms of the particulate nature of light.
The expected answers are:
(a) Light can exists in two forms: wave and particle.
Or Light exhibits both wave and particle natures.
(b) Two phenomena that can be explained in terms of the particulate nature of light. e.g
- black body radiation
- Photoelectricity
- Compton effect
- Absorption/emission spectra
