(a)(i) Explain the term hooliganism in sports; (ii) State four causes of hooliganism in sports.

(b) State the difference between isometric contraction and isotonic contraction.

Observation

This question was satisfactorily answered by candidates. Candidates could explain the term hooliganism and state the cause of hooliganism in sports as demanded in question (a)(i) and (ii).

 However, in question 6(b), some candidates could not state the difference between isometric contraction and isotonic contraction. The correct answer as include:
Difference between isometric contraction and isotonic contraction:

  • Isometric contraction occurs when a muscle is held in a state of partial or complete contraction but there is no change in the length and position of the muscle .
  • Isotonic contraction is a type of muscle contraction in which there is shortening and lengthening of the muscle fibre.
