Observation

Few candidates attempted the question. Majority of the candidates could not describe how to
perform handspring in gymnastics. They could also not state cause of injury during vaulting activities in gymnastics correctly. '

- Gymnastics box
- Gymnastic buck
- Pommel horse
- Horizontal bar
- Parallel bar
- Balance, beam
- Spring board
- Trampoline
- Wall ladder/wall bars/horizontal ladder
- Siring ropes
- Gymnastics mat
- Gymnastic rings.


Causes of injury during vaulting activities
- carelessness
- improper physical condition/warm-up
- lack of skill/knowledge
- faulty equipment
- fatigue/tiredness
- unsafe physical environment/hazard
- emotional instability/fear
- lack of proper supervision.
Description of the procedure for performing handspring in gymnastics::
- fast approach run
- place non-kicking leg as you step forward with hands raised.
- Hop on the hands on the floor while the legs up
- Both legs pass through the hand stand position together.
- Flex the knees on landing and assume a standing position.

Phases involved in executing a vaulting activity in gymnastics

- Approach/run up

- Flight

- Landing
