The standard of the paper was in no way different from the previous years:. it   compared favourably. The rubrics were clearly stated while the questions were within   the scope of the syllabus. The marking scheme was also comprehensive and catered for the interest of the various categories of candidates that wrote the examination.  
However, candidates' performance fell short of expectation. It "was evident that majority of the candidates were not musically literate; they did not have thfaintest idea of music.
