There were complaints of power outage in some centres. This did not allow some candidates to drill their work. Another weakness discovered is in the area of the thickness of the materials used by the candidates. They used metal with varied thickness. Only one candidate attempted the machining exercise. This is a clear indication that most of the schools lack the required machine for the exercise.
The suggested remedies to the above problems are:
- efforts should be made to ensure that the operations are not too electricity dependent;
- a standby generator should be arranged for to conduct the problem of power outage;
- efforts should be made to ensure that materials of uniform thickness are given to all candidates;
- schools should be provided with machines like lathe machine, drilling machines etc. to enable more candidates attempt the machining exercise.
