Candidates failed to focus on the demands of each question.  They derailed by reproducing the story-lines of the texts.

Candidates’ responses indicated that they lacked in-depth knowledge of the set texts, as they paid attention to only major characters.

Suggested Remedies

Parents, the government and school authorities should intensify their efforts in providing set texts for the candidates.

More qualified teachers should be employed to teach candidates.
