Question 10

How effectively has Rubadiri used Imagery in “An African Thunderstorm?”

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________
Observation

The poem graphically presents the havoc wrecked by an African Thunderstorm.

The dominant poetic device used to create a visual imagery in the poem include simile, metaphor and personification.

Onomatopoeia is also used in “tremble and crack”. These firmly etch the image of destruction and devastation in the mind of the reader.

Candidates who attempted this question only described the destruction of the thunderstorm without referring to the image.
