Consumer Education was well attempted together with the agencies. Section (a) and (b)(i) were all about what they should consider when going for shopping. Some were still talking about money at hand. The question presumes that you already have money.

(a) A Consumer is a person who makes use of goods and services to satisfy personal or household needs.

(1) Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON)
(2) Foods and Drugs Administration (FDA)
(3) National Agency for Food and Drug administration control (NAFDAC)
(4) Codex Alimentaries Commission (World Food Agency)
(5) Police Intelligence Agency
(6) Price Control Board.
(c) Guidelines for wise shopping
(1) Buy foods in season to get them at cheaper prices
(2) Study labels for information on the goods/articles
(3) Make a list of the items needed.
(4) Confine the shopping to the list as much as possible
(5) Resist the temptation to buy things you do not really need/don’t buy on impulse.
(6) Move around and compare prices, quality and quantity.
(7) To be an informed buyer, Consumer should keep up with market trends
(8) Buy in bulk when facilities are available.
(9) Plan to buy during special clearance sales.
