The candidates' performance on the question was good. Many of those who attempted it scored high marks. In the (a) part~ they were able to identify 30me
European nations like Britain,. France, Spain, etc. However; some of the candidates did not have a proper grasp of the various problems encountered by the African
Slaves on the way to the New World.
Those who scored high marks were able to describe the following problems:
(i) thirst;
(ii) hunger;
(iii) exposure to diseases and death;
(iv) inhuman treatment - chaining, flogging, etc.
