This was a very popular question. Except in very few cases, most candidates were able to identify the important crises - Western Region crisis of 1962, 1964 General Election Crisis, 1962/1963 Census Crisis, etc.
However, in the (b) part, majority of the candidates lacked the ability to articulate their points and did not have the facts to support the points mentioned.
The good candidates stated some of the following pints to score high mark:
(i)
ethnicity sectionalism and regionalism;
(ii) wrong attitude of the political class - winner takes all;
(iii) corruption and economic mismanagement;
(iv) rigging of elections i.e. 1964/1965, etc.
