(a) State five function each of:
(i) Public health authorities;
(ii) Medical records.

(b) State five benefits of physical exercise to man.
(c) Name five skin disorders

OBSERVATION

Candidates who attempted this question performed fairly as most of them could state benefits of physical exercise to man as well name various skin disorders. In stating functions of medical records and public health authorities many candidates overlapped the functions.
    Functions of Public Health Authorities

  1. keeping medical records; education/public mass campaign;
  2. treat infected people at IDH;
  3. approval of building plans;
  4. engage sanitary workers/labourers for environmental sanitation;
  5. disinfection of public houses against pest/named using insecticide/pesticides;
  6.  supply of water for domestic use;
  7. disposal of sewage;
  8. ensuring that houses are built to standard specification;
  9. help to control/prevent the spread of infectious diseases;
  10. refuse disposal;
  11. provide mass vaccination against diseases;
  12. provide sanitary inspectors for homes/market/abattoirs.

Medical records

      1. They provide statistics on births and deaths;
      2. They reveal the types of diseases that are sporadic, endemic or epidemic;
      3. They tell the age at which most people die/rate mortality;
      4. Tell the types of disease that cause great mortality at particular stages of life;
      5. Tell about drugs widely used and their level of efficiency;
      6. They can help forecast what diseases a country or state should expect in the future/follow up medical records.
