Question 1

A. My First Day In The Junior Secondary School.
Ranata ta farko a Makarantar karamar sakandare.

B. My opinion concerning immunization on children.
Ra’ayina game da allurar riga-kafi ga kananan yara.

C. Salla festival in my town.
Bikin salla a garinmu.

D. As Secretary of your Area Development Association, write a letter to your
Local Government chairman seeking the provision of enough portable drinking water in your area.
A matsayinka na sakataren kungiyar unguwarku, rubuta wasika zuwa ga shugaban karamar hukumarku, ka bukace shi da ya wadata ku da ruwan sha.

Observation

A. The candidates were expected to write on their first day experiences in a junior secondary school.  Some candidates were able to write on things like preparation and purchase of things like bucket, mattress, brooms etc., the first assembly attended, lesson and the dormitory (hostel) etc.  The performance of the candidates in this question was encouraging as most of them mentioned relevant points required.

B. This is an argumentative essay where candidates were expected to write their opinion regarding the administration of immunization vaccines on children.  The candidates who attempted this question tried to mention the advantages and the adverse effects of the vaccine on children in their respective opinion.  The performance of the candidates was encouraging.

C. The candidates were required to narrate how Salla celebration is performed in their respective localities.  Due to the familiarity with the practice, the candidates’ performance was very good as many of them mentioned relevant points needed.

D. This is a formal letter where the candidates were required to write the letter using the following format:
-           the address of the writer and the officer writing to
-           salutation/greetings
-           introduction
-           the body of the letter which may include, the following points:  problems or the effect of shortage of drinking water like typhoid fever, cholera, scabies etc.  Ways by which water can be made available like: digging of well, boreholes, dams with plant for treating the water and water tankers for distribution to different areas within the locality.
The question was attempted by few candidates and their performance was fair.

E. The question is a proverb and only few candidates attempted it.  Those who attempted it, could not make a good exposition on it.  As such the candidates’ performance was poor.
