The question was popular with the candidates. Most of the candidates that attempted the question tackled the 'a' part very well. In other words, they did not fail to state - free education, integrated rural development, provision of health facilities and gainful employment for all citizens, as the objectives of the UPN. They were rewarded with good marks. However, there was a slight drop in the overall performance of candidates in this question because of the failure of some weak candidates to expatiate their points in the 'b' part. Mere mentioning of points made the overall performance in the question to be average.
Candidates were expected to outline some of the following achievements of the UPN:
(1)
Won the gubernatorial elections in five states in 1979;
(2) provided free education in the states it controlled;
(3) implemented free medical facilities in all the states it controlled;
(4) promoted fiscal discipline in all the states it controlled
(5) won gubernatorial election in Kwara State in 1983, etc
