Observation

This was a direct question and was attempted by many candidates. Majority of the candidates that attempted it raised good points and were rewarded with good marks. Their performance was very good in the question.
However, a few weak candidates that attempted the question did not perform well because their answers included factors that led to the growth of nationalism after 1945.
Candidates were expected to state some of the following factors.
(I) formation of political parties;
(2) establishment of local press and newspapers;
(3) formation of the West African Students' Union (WASU) in 1925;
(4) formation of youth movements;
(5) exclusion of educated elite from governance, etc.
