Discuss six features of the traditional Yoruba political system.

Observation

The question was not popular with candidates and the few that attempted it did not do justice to it. The very few candidates that attempted the question managed to write the required points without detailed explanations.
Worse still, most of the candidates that chose the question wrote on the key functions of Oyo kingdom and the origin of the kingdom. The overall performance in the question was below average. Some of the salient points candidates left out in their answers included:
(1) the system was based on constitutional monarchy;
(2) the existence of Council of Senior Chiefs;
(3) there was an informal system of taxation;
(4) there was the Oba as the paramount ruler;
(5) there was the existence of secret societies e.g. Ogboni, etc.
