The question was a straightforward one and was attempted by many candidates. Most of those that attempted the question did not know the meaning of the limitation to sovereignty and so performed poorly. Some other candidates could not identify six correct points expected from them. Even few candidates that remembered the points merely mentioned them. The overall candidates' performance in the question was below average. Few candidates who managed to score good marks did not forget to state some of the following external limitations:
(1) international laws and conventions;
(2) international treaties and agreements;
(3) dominance of powerful states;
(4) external trade;
(5) religions and culture; etc
