Candidates' weakness

A number of weaknesses were noticed notably

(1) Laziness: Candidates no more read their books widely as evidenced in their specializing in just few topics. For the majority of the topics, they just managed to list point which made them to loose much marks. The teachers and tutorial centres should intensify their efforts in advising the candidates to study their books. The candidates on their own part should read their books with all seriousness as there is no short cut to success.

(2) Inability to Draw Accurate Maps: Many of the candidates just draw a  "structure less shape" for an outline map of Nigeria and inserted the rivers Niger and Benue. Also many of the maps did not have keys to explain the features shown.
The candidates should personally practice the drawing of maps repeatedly until they master the art. They should also learn the proper way of representing features on maps.

(3) Inability to interpret the Questions correctly: Some of the candidates misinterpreted some questions out rightly. It is advisable that candidates spend some time reading the question until they understand     all that it entails before attempting it.

(4) Inability to cover the Syllabus: Many of the candidates die: not read anything on the rest of Africa as evidenced by their woeful performance in this section. The candidates are advised to start preparing for their examination well ahead of time. The tutorial centres should also do their best to cover the syllabus with the Candidates.

(5) Poor Expression and Spelling Mistakes: The spoken English of some of the candidates is poor. This hindered them from buttressing their points articulately. The candidates should read widely to broaden their power of expression and check up confusing words in the dictionaries for their right meanings and spellings.
