(a) Outline three main differences between Latitudes and Longitudes.

(b) Ebone's town is located on Longitude 20°E, His friend Adams lives in a town on Longitude 110E. What will be the time in Adams town when in is 4.30 p.m. local time on Monday in Ebone's town? (Show all working clearly).

Observation

This was a very popular question with the candidates and many performed well in it. Those who did badly were some who used table for comparison and therefore loosed some marks. The candidates were expected to make comparisons like:

  1. Latitudes are called parallels while Longitudes are called Meridians
  2. Latitudes are used in calculating distances between places while longitudes are used in calculation local time.

The (b) Part of the question that required calculation was well handled by the candidates.
