Observation

Despite the fact that this question was compulsory, some candidates did not attempt it. Some of the candidates who attempted the question performed well. Others got low marks because they had a very poor knowledge of scale conversion and thus did not know that they are to reduce the map by four times. Some measured the dimensions wrongly. Quite a good number could not infer the land use types from the symbol on the maps.
Practices are required in the map work so that map reduction .and insertion of features could be adequately grasped. Each school should buy sets of topographical maps for constant use by the candidates so that they will be used to it.
