Candidates were generally weak in Vectors and Mechanics. They were also weak in:
- Binomial expansion,
- Conic sections – equation of a circle,
- Matrix and determinants,
- Permutation.
The following suggestions were proffered for remedies:-
(1) The candidates should put in more efforts in their preparation and cover as much aspects of the syllabus as possible.
(2) Teachers should be more committed and endeavour to cover all the topics in the syllabus.
(3) More qualified Mathematics teachers should be employed to teach the subject.
(4) Candidates’ attention should be drawn to the common mistakes and their wrong approaches, like copying of the questions into the answer booklet before solving; as this will reduce the amount of time available for answering the questions.
