Observation

This question was generally on experimental cookery and it was poorly answered, in fact, majority of the candidates did not attempt the question, The few that attempted the question could not state the advantages of the use of a recipe and reasons of preparing local dishes and drinks.

(a)        Advantages of the use of a recipe
- prevents wastage of ingredients
- gives correct quantities and methods
-states the correct procedures for good results
- results in the correct quality of the products
- enables you to get the correct yield
- makes room for adaptation of new recipes.

(b)          Reasons for Preparing Local Dishes and Drinks
- for special occasions
- scarcity of known 'food items.
- surplus of local ingredients.
- reviving the old custom.
- to cut down on cost.
- to bring varieties.
- acquisition of new knowledge of food value.
- it is economical

(c)           Importance of Collecting Information
- new facts for better nutritive value like and dislikes of the people faster methods of cooking to conserve their nutrients
-better methods of preparation to conserve their nutrients Seasonal occurrence of some of the ingredient in the recipe(s).
