This question which was on Consumer education was another candidates' strength.
Majority of the candidates attempted this question correctly except that most candidates gave scanty and unclear explanations on hire purchase and comparative shopping.
The expected answers are:
(a)A consumer is a person that buys goods and services for the sole purpose of making use of them.
(i)Adulteration: is the practice of using inferior or unwholesome raw materials in the production of an item with view of cheating the consumer.
(ii)Misbranded: is the process of using wrong labelling with view of deceiving the consumers.
(iii)Hire Purchase: is an agreement between a buyer and a seller of an item, whereby a down payment is made by the buyer and the balance is expected to be paid on regular instalment basis. The item does not belong to the buyer until the full payment is made.
(iii)Comparative shopping: is comparing of pro duets for quality, price and warranties before buying them.
