(a). Candidates’ Weaknesses
i. Candidates’ performance was poor on the questions on the Theory of Financial Accounting.
ii. Non-adherence to instructions.
iii. Candidates’ inability to interpret the requirement of the practice questions.
iv. Inability to calculate percentage and ratio in question 9.
v. Inability to explain their points comprehensibly. This was noticed in candidates’ answers in the section on theory of Financial Accounting.
(b).SUGGESTED REMEDIES
i. Teachers should devote more time to teaching the theory of Financial Accounting so that candidates can have a good understanding of this aspect of the subject.
ii. Candidates should be taught to adhere strictly to examination instructions and particular instructions to each question.
iii. Candidates’ should read instructions carefully before attempting the questions.
iv. Qualified Teachers should be implored to teach the subject so that all aspects of the syllabus would be covered before registering candidates for the examination.
v. Teachers should devote useful time to teach English Language in schools. This would enhance the understanding of the theoretical aspect of the subject before introducing students to the practice.
