The expected answers are:

(b) Explanation of the following terms and their effect
(i) Sizing
It is a finishing treatment given to cotton fabric whereby the fabric is immersed in a starch solution. It gives a stiff and smooth finish; It improves the feel of the fabric.
(ii) Trubernizing
It is a finish treatment given to cotton fabric whereby it is treated with resin. It makes it permanently stiffened.
(iii) Mercerizing
It is a finish given to cotton fabrics. The fabric is passed through a strong solution off caustic soda. This makes the fabric strong, lustrous, smooth and durable.
(c) Qualities of linen that make it suitable for tailored garments
(i) . Firm to handle.
(ii) Can be embroidered and decorated
(iii) Retains good shape when cut accurately
(iv) Linen fabrics are strong and wear well.
(v) They do not stain easily.
