(b) Explain two principles of design
(c) List four equipment needed for fitting garments in a clothing laboratory.

Observation

The candidates could not differentiate the principle of design from the elements of design. The expected answers are:
(a)Parts of garment indicated.
I.Neckline
II Yoke
III Sleeve
IV Sleeve band
V Dart
VI Lower part of dress
VII Frills
VIII Hem.

(b)Suitable edge finish for the following

(1)I - facing. binding, piping, attaching lace, attaching short frills, attaching collar.
(2)VIII- turn a hem facing binding
attach lace or any trimming embroidery stitches overlocking stitches.
(c)Explanation of principles of design
Balance - when the design is alike on both sides of a garment or when there is equal attraction on both sides of the garment.
Dominance/ Emphasis - Outstanding feature in• a design
Rhythm - Regular repetition of elements of design
Proportion - Relationship of one part of the garment to the rest or the
size of one part of design to the rest.
Harmony - How all the part or elements of the garment are related to produce a pleasing or agreeable effect.
