question 9 Rom; 3: 21 – 24, 5: 1 – 11

(a) Outline Paul’s message on justification.

(b) Stat two conditions for the attainment of justification

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________
Observation

The question was widely answered by most of the candidates. Many who dabbled into the question managed to come out with half mark. Neither the message of Paul on justification nor the condition for attainment of justification was marshalled out. They failed to mention that:

(i) Moses gave the law to improve on man’s attitude to God;

(ii) All effort to make man righteous was in vain;
(iii) This made man to be unacceptable to God; (iv) Abraham was justified by faith.
The (b) part of the question did not help matter as candidates did not mention points like

  1. Man should do the will of God
  2. Man should respond to the free offer of justification;
  3. man should accept the offer through grace.
