question 6 Matt 27: 55 – 66, Mk. 15: 40 – 47, Lk 23: 49 – 50

(a) Describe the roles of Joseph of Arimathea and the women in the burial of Jesus.

(b) In what three ways was Joseph’s action significant?
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________
Observation

This was not a very popular question among the candidates those who attempted it did not do well. They failed to point out the role of the women and scantily mentioned Joseph of Arimathea's role in the burial of Jesus Christ.
Another undoing of the candidates is the 'b' part where the significance of Joseph's action was demanded. Essential points were not mentioned like

(i) He did not want Jesus' body to be left on the tree till after the Passover night;
(ii) He did not want Jesus to be buried as a criminal in any grave;
(iii) He had faith in Jesus as a mark of honor to him, hence he buried Him in a new grave.
