Few candidates were able to:
-list types of drain pipes;
-state function of a manhole.
However, they were unable to:
-differentiate between the use of valves and taps in a plumbing system;
-sketch the cross-section of a manhole correctly;
-label the given parts of a manhole .
The expected response from the candidates is as given below:
5(a) Valves are used to control or stop the supply of water in a pipe line while taps are used to control or stop the supply of water to appliances.
(b) Types of drain pipes are:
- P.V.C pipes;
- Asbestos cement pipes;
- Pitch - fibre pipes;
- Cast-iron pipes;
- Glazed clay pipes.

(ii)for testing purposes;
(iii)for maintenance purposes.
