The performance of the candidates was average, though they showed mastery in part one of the paper which was essay writing and they also showed:

(a)acquaintance with good Arabic vocabulary;
(b)good use of Arabic syntax;
(c)appreciation of poetic extracts given;
(d)the use of appropriate diction and grammar in writing good essay in Arabic.
