There was generally no remarkable area of strength exhibited by the candidates. However, majority of the candidates showed an appreciable improvement in their ability to:
- state reasons why disc ploughs are better suited than mouldboard ploughs for soils in West Africa;
- list the major parts of a disc plough;
- give reasons why secondary tillage is necessary before sowing of seeds;
- state ways by which nitrogen is added to the soil in the nitrogen cycle;
- enumerate the economic importance of rocks to man and in agriculture;
- state characteristics of igneous and metamorphic rocks;
- explain terms such as floriculture, taungya farming and ley farming;
- state uses of ornamental plants to man;
- mention the fibre crops grown in the country;
- define pasture;
- list the sings of heat in animals;
- mention reasons for castrating farm animals;
- list the main extension teaching methods and their types;
- give the qualities of a good extension agent.
