There was generally no remarkable area of strength exhibited by the candidates.  However, majority of the candidates showed an appreciable improvement in their ability to:     

• state reasons why disc ploughs are better suited than mouldboard ploughs for soils in West Africa;
• list the major parts of a disc plough;
• give reasons why secondary tillage is necessary before sowing of seeds;
• state ways by which nitrogen is added to the soil in the nitrogen cycle;
• enumerate the economic importance of rocks to man and in agriculture;
• state characteristics of igneous and metamorphic rocks;
• explain terms such as floriculture, taungya farming and ley farming;
• state uses of ornamental plants to man;
• mention the fibre crops grown in the country;
• define pasture;
• list the sings of heat in animals;
• mention reasons for castrating farm animals;
• list the main extension teaching methods and their types;
  
• give the qualities of a good extension agent.
